About Me: Jovani Perez

Thank you for visiting my website - My name is Jovani Perez.  I was born on September 3rd 2011 - Although I may look as cute as a button - I am pretty sick....I have renal failure due to Eagle-Barrett Multicystic kidneys at birth....that's just a fancy-pants way of saying that my kidneys don't really function and that I am in need of dialysis and eventually kidney transplant!

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure.  The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients.  In Rochester, volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients like me, Jovani!

I am the son of Ben and Amber Perez. Mommy and Daddy have been working with the doctors at Strong Memorial Hospital as well as with the doctors at Children’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, Both have recommended a life-saving kidney transplant for me (YIKES!!!).

Rochester volunteers working with COTA have set up this site to help raise the funds needed to help offset the out of pocket expenses that we will incur during and after the transplant procedure.

After speaking extensively with my mommy and daddy - COTA has set a goal of raising $55,000.  We are hoping to accomplish this goal by holding monthly fundraising activities that will be fun, exciting and raise the funds needed.  Please check back here from time to time to see more pictures of me, what were up to next and of course to donate money!!  (did I mention to donate money?!)
